Steel Bars

Overview

A metal component is heated by induction heating and subsequently cooled in an induction hardening process. The cooled metal experiences a martensitic transition, making the component harder and more brittle. An additional benefit of the induction hardened chrome plated rod is that it is better able to withstand damage from external impact.

Without changing the part’s overall qualities, induction hardening is used to selectively harden certain sections of a part or assembly. The hardening depth ranges from 1.5 to 5 mm; medium/low-frequency quenching can result in an excessive depth and have an adverse effect on strength; high-frequency quenching often produces a shallow depth and can help maintain the proper balance of hardness and strength.

Packaging

For domestic, within Ahmedabad – oiling, bubble wrapping & stretch film. For domestic, outside Ahmedabad – oiling, corrugated tube, bubble wrapping, hessian cloth, stretch film & wooden box if needed. For exports, anti-rust oil is on material and packed first by cardboard sleeve then in steel frame wooden box & pallets if needed.

Test Certificate

All goods will be sold with material test certificates to ensure proper quality from standard processing mills.

FAQs

Being the leading manufacturer of induction hardened chrome bars, our esteemed customers have a lot of questions in mind regarding our products from across the world. Some of the FAQs are discussed below

The primary purpose of the hardening is to provide a surface protection against mechanical impacts or strokes (for example, equipment used in mining or rock drilling that is continually being rubbed by pebbles and dust).

Induction-hardened chrome-plated bars are made by applying advanced processing techniques to steel rods made from AISI 1045/1050 or 10v45, usually for surface removal, polishing, induction hardening, and then hard chrome plating with a minimum thickness of 0.0005″ or 0.001″ per side.

Chrome hardness is Rockwell “C” 58/60. Without the induction-hardened surface of the shaft substrate, it is a precision-finished chrome-plated shaft. While the shaft’s sub-surface is coated with a high-hardness chrome, it has not been hardened.

Induction hardening concentrates on the individual workpiece while case hardening works a large number of workpieces simultaneously. Components are hardened one at a time using induction hardening.

The layer thickness is dependent on rod diameter and is more than 800 HV hard. Between -15°C and 200°C, hard chrome-plated piston rods can be utilised.
