Large two-stroke engines frequently have piston rods. The crosshead and the engine’s running gear are assisted by piston rods in receiving the power generated in the combustion chamber. These rods’ lengths are determined by the engine’s stroke length and the manufacturer’s design. The bottom end of the rod is joined to the crosshead, while the top end is flanged or fastened to the bottom of the piston.

By using an internal mechanism, the gas force acting on the top of the piston crown is transferred to the piston rod, preventing potential ring belt distortion. The rods have two through-and-through concentric holes for cooling the piston. These holes are for the cooling oil supply and return lines.
Hydraulic piston rod suppliers make piston rods hollow because hollow rod construction uses resources more efficiently than solid rod construction, however, pressurisation does not significantly improve structural performance.
Steel that has been hardened is used to make piston rods, and metal spray can be used in packing regions to increase rod life. Steel, cast nodular iron, or aluminum are possible piston material choices. Cast iron is the most popular because of its durability.
Hydraulic cylinder Piston Rod Manufacturers make hydraulic piston rods with steel or aluminum. Cast iron cylinders are employed when the pressure is less than 10 MPa. They are constructed of seamless steel pipe and can withstand pressures up to 20 MPa. The pipes are made of steel or forged steel at pressures more than 20 MPa.
